PADEL PROJECT GUIDE

Planning your padel installation.

A padel court installation involves decisions about the site, approvals, foundations, court system and the way the venue will operate. A clear sequence helps you compare proposals and understand who is responsible for each stage. Use this guide to prepare an initial brief for your project.

1. Confirm the site and intended use.

Start with the location, your right to use the land or building and the people the facility will serve. Identify the proposed number of courts, whether they will be indoor, outdoor or covered, and how they fit with any existing sports or leisure operation.

Collect a measured plan, photographs and information about the current surface, utilities and access. For an existing building, include columns and clear heights. Early information helps distinguish an attractive idea from a layout that needs further investigation.

2. Establish the approval requirements.

Check the proposal with the relevant local planning authority and project advisers before arranging construction. The LTA advises that new padel court construction requires formal planning consent; requirements for your location, use and proposed works should be confirmed individually.

Noise, lighting, operating hours, neighbours and access can influence the proposal. A canopy or enclosed structure may bring further design and building-control considerations. Temporary or flexible court systems should not be assumed to avoid these checks.

3. Coordinate the technical design.

The court and any canopy need to work with the ground, foundations and drainage. Agree who will commission the surveys and structural design, and how the court supplier and supporting-works contractor will exchange the information they need.

The design brief should identify the court specification, surface, lighting and electrical connections, alongside access and any relevant clearances. For a canopy, coordinate roof supports and drainage with the enclosure and surrounding routes before the layout is finalised.

4. Agree the scope and installation plan.

Use a written quotation and specification to identify the work included, exclusions and responsibilities. Confirm the sequence for supporting works, delivery, unloading, storage and installation, as well as how site readiness will be checked.

A realistic programme depends on approvals, design information, groundworks, material availability and access. Ask which milestones must be achieved before an installation date can be confirmed. Avoid treating an estimated assembly period as the total time required to open the facility.

5. Prepare for handover and operation.

Before opening, agree the inspection and handover process for the installed works. Request the operating and maintenance information, relevant warranty documents and a clear route for reporting an issue or obtaining support.

Plan staff procedures, equipment storage, routine court care and arrangements for taking an area out of use if a problem arises. ModPadel can discuss equipment, operations guidance, maintenance and surface replacement alongside the initial court project, so the facility has a plan beyond installation.

Your questions, answered.

How long does padel court installation take?

The full programme depends on the site and scope. Approvals, design and groundworks may take longer than court assembly itself. A project programme should distinguish those stages and confirm the conditions for the installation date.
